Every so often, someone will contact us about remaking an item that they have purchased from someplace else. In this case, the client had purchased a Nostradamus Chest but didn't like the wood used, which was Oak. I can't say as I disagree...perhaps if in manufacturing they had used quartersawn Oak, it would have been different. He also didn't care for the bright shiny polished Brass hardware that had been used or the cheap-looking latch. So he commissioned a custom chest to be made.  

 

This Nostradamus Chest was crafted from beautiful Walnut with hand-crafted hand-aged Brass hardware. We went as far as to line the eyelet pinholes with Brass tubing to ensure they would last a long time without wearing the wood holes and becoming loose and wobbly. The resulting product was an amazingly beautiful little box that had much more character than its original counterpart.

Please note: The wood used to craft these boxes is the real thing! It is not pine stained to look like an exotic wood. Your box will be carefully crafted from real hardwoods like Bloodwood, Brazilian Cherry, Maple, Padauk, Purple Heart, Walnut, Wenge, just to name a few.  Color and grain will vary some as this is a natural product and subject to the designs and characteristics of nature.
